Choosing a Dekton countertop: slab and installation details

Dekton is Cosentino's ultracompact surface brand. Evaluate a project using the current technical documents for the selected series and thickness, not general brand language alone.

Confirm the series, thickness and pattern direction

Select colour, veining, finish and thickness from a physical sample; catalogue photography can look different under actual lighting. Cosentino's US page describes Dekton as an ultracompact surface and publishes manufacturer-specific statements about heat and abrasion resistance.

Those statements should not be generalized to every slab, colour, thickness or other surface sold in Turkey. Request the exact product code, current slab format and local technical datasheet in the quotation.

Approve cut-outs, edges and handling with the fabricator

Plan sink and hob cut-outs, internal corner radii, overhangs, supports and seams on a drawing. With large-format slabs, vein matching, piece layout and access for handling can affect both cost and appearance.

For hard or thin slabs, use equipment and fabrication methods allowed by the selected product instructions. Ask the fabricator to document its approach to corners, narrow cut-outs and installation support.

Follow the current product care guide

Cosentino's linked page recommends water and mild soap for routine cleaning and cautions against products containing hydrofluoric acid. Verify this manufacturer guidance against the current care document and sales terms for the exact product.

Follow the product instructions for hot cookware, cutting boards, edge impacts and strong chemicals. Compare slab, cut-outs, edge work, sink junctions, delivery and installation as separate quote items.

Pre-order checklist

Before ordering, record the manufacturer or seller, exact series and colour code, slab thickness, dimensions and batch in writing. The current datasheet and care guide should identify the same product as the quotation. Review a physical sample in both daylight and the project’s artificial lighting. A catalogue image alone does not prove product identity, exact colour or a completed project reference.

Mark wall returns, sink and hob cut-outs, seams, internal corners, edge profile and overhangs on the installation drawing. Cutting, support and bonding must follow the selected slab’s fabrication guide. Check separately whether site templating, material, cut-outs, delivery, removal and installation are included in the quotation.

The order approval should record the colour/series, dimensions, installation scope and target delivery date. Document the product warranty separately from workmanship coverage, and include care instructions and an after-sales contact in the handover file.
