Before choosing a kitchen countertop
From measurements to installation
Daily use, sink and hob positions, wall returns and the existing countertop area are reviewed first. Final dimensions and cut-outs depend on site checks and the selected surface specifications.
Acrylic or engineered quartz?
Acrylic solid surface and engineered quartz are different materials. Joint appearance, sink options, care and fabrication vary by product line. Compare physical samples and manufacturer documentation.
What to share for a quote
Share approximate dimensions, a kitchen photograph, sink and hob positions, location and preferred product/colour if known. Ask for a written scope covering material, cut-outs, edges, removal and installation.

Are solid surface countertops heat-resistant?
Solid surface products can tolerate everyday use, but heat performance varies by product. Corian® advises against placing hot pans and pots directly on its surface and recommends a trivet or heat pad. Follow the selected product’s care guide.
How can scratches on solid surface countertops be repaired?
On some homogeneous acrylic solid surface products, light scratches may be refinished using manufacturer-approved sanding or abrasive pads and polishing. The correct method depends on the product and finish; deeper scratches and cuts should be assessed by a qualified fabricator.
What is measured before a kitchen countertop is installed?
Wall returns, sink and hob cut-outs, edge profiles, joints and support conditions are confirmed through drawings and site checks.
Does a quote include installation and removal of the existing countertop?
The written quote should state included work. Removal, carrying, cut-outs and installation are specified according to project conditions.
